Today, nearly a year after the new law was introduced, we can say that the operation was successful and the patient survived. But, as experts note, a long rehabilitation awaits him \u2013 comments PMR Restrukturyzacje. From 2003, i.e., from the introduction of restructuring regulations in bankruptcy law (as a type of intervention procedure), to the end of 2015, bankruptcy proceedings were declared against nearly 8,000 companies. During the same period, restructuring proceedings were initiated against only 58 entities. This is a huge waste of economic potential and a classic symbol of a dead law. The provisions of the Restructuring Law, in force since January 2016, are intended to protect entrepreneurs and enable them to take advantage of restructuring opportunities already in the initial phase of a crisis. The new law is intended to implement the so-called "New Opportunity Policy," meaning the state's economic strategy focused on protecting businesses, jobs, intellectual capital, and know-how. "From January 1st of this year, when the new law came into force, to the end of October 2016, 514 bankruptcy proceedings were announced. That's 119 fewer than during the same period last year. During the same period, we also recorded 155 restructuring proceedings," says Ma\u0142gorzata Anisimowicz, President of PMR Restrukturyzacje SA. "Comparing the number of 155 open restructuring proceedings in 2016 to the 58 restructuring proceedings in 2003-2015, we can see what a revolution we're dealing with," she notes.
