In the first half of the year, the number of restructuring applications exceeded 1,000 and was even 25 percent higher than in the whole of 2020. Another wave<\/a> The pandemic and the closure of the economy may increase the number of cases to 2-3 thousand.<\/p>\n

According to data from the Central Economic Information Centre, while back in 2020 there were 30-40 restructuring proceedings opened per month and in the whole year there were 800 of them, in June alone there were 266 applications. As a result, the whole six months already amounted to 1 thousand proceedings and everything indicates that we are dealing with a long trend. Much depends on the further development of the pandemic and, unfortunately, one has to reckon with the scenario that the strictures will return, at least for some sectors.<\/p>\n

- Previous lockdowns have absorbed a large part of financial reserves, which were usually small anyway. Further restrictions will cause the situation to become dramatic, and the number of open proceedings may even double - to 200-300 each month. This may mean that in a worst-case scenario, we will end 2021 with as many as 3,000 new proceedings - says Ma\u0142gorzata Anisimowicz, qualified restructuring advisor and president of PMR Restructuring Management Board<\/a>.<\/p>\n
